John Ray & Sons “Fueling a Cure” Program Raises Over $14,000 with Pink Truck

Thursday, November 1, 2012 – John Ray & Sons’ Fueling a Cure program ended its fourth year having raised $14,104.98 for the Northeastern New York Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.  The amount represents the number of gallons of fuel (over 1.4 million) the company’s Pink Truck delivered from 10/1/11 – 9/30/12 throughout the company’s 11-county service area.

Since its inception in 2008, Fueling a Cure has raised over $55,000 to help promote breast cancer awareness and provide education, screenings, and treatment in local area communities.

“This program underscores our efforts to increase awareness of breast cancer and the importance of early detection,'” said Glenn Young, General Manager of John Ray & Sons. “We would like to thank our customers, colleagues, and suppliers for their help in making this program such a success,” he said.

“We are proud to announce that we are continuing our commitment to this cause by extending the Fueling a Cure program for another year,” Mr. Young said, noting that the Pink Truck is part of the company’s ongoing tradition of community service.

Lynette Stark, Executive Director of the NENY Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, said, “We appreciate the attention Fueling a Cure brings to our efforts, the support of the local community, and this generous donation from John Ray & Sons.”

A check presentation will be made during the Adirondack Phantoms vs. Albany Devils game at the Glens Falls Civic Center on Saturday, November 3.  The Phantoms are supporting the cause by offering fans that wear pink and mention Susan G. Komen for the Cure a $3 discount on their ticket.
